Transparent Pool - Cannes Croisette
"Installing a swimming pool on a rooftop in Cannes is not just a technical feat. It's a balancing act between structural constraints, urban requirements, and the pursuit of timeless aesthetics. In this project, located in the immediate vicinity of the Croisette, water becomes an architectural element in its own right, designed to enhance the existing building while providing functional value and a strong contemporary signature."
A technical and architectural achievement by STEEL & STYLE
Located on the rooftop of a residence in the immediate vicinity of the Croisette, this stainless steel and PMMA swimming pool perfectly embodies the DNA of STEEL & STYLE: pushing technical boundaries to create iconic aquatic structures, adapted to the most challenging and prestigious environments.
Building a rooftop pool in Cannes requires a specific engineering approach. Between allowable load constraints, site accessibility, strict urban regulations, and complex craning operations, every technical decision must be perfectly mastered.
In this project, the pool's self-supporting structure, although designed to limit loads, did not allow for single-block delivery. The basin was therefore prefabricated in the workshop, then reassembled directly on site, on the roof of the residence. This method made it possible to respect both the weight constraints related to craning and the structural limits of the existing building.
A high-rise project with major constraints
The choice of a stainless steel shell was an obvious one. Stainless steel guarantees absolute watertightness, without an additional membrane, while offering excellent mechanical resistance with a controlled thickness. This design significantly limits the overload on the building's supporting structure, a fundamental issue on a roof terrace, while ensuring exceptional longevity of the structure.
Combined with PMMA on the glass walls, the pool offers spectacular transparency and a feeling of levitation, particularly highlighted in this rooftop context with an unobstructed view of Cannes and the Mediterranean.
A swimming pool as an architectural element in its own right
Much more than just a piece of equipment, this pool becomes a structuring architectural element of the project. Its placement, clean lines, precise assembly, and careful integration into the wooden deck contribute to an elegant and contemporary staging of the outdoor space.
The project was supervised by architect Carlos Gonzaga, who ensured the architectural coherence and harmonious integration of the pool into its built and landscaped environment.
In a sought-after area like Cannes Croisette, the installation of a rooftop pool is an immediate value driver for the property. This type of pool, rare and technically demanding, meets a growing demand for exclusive, differentiating, and durable services.
Beyond comfort and user experience, this project illustrates how a custom stainless steel pool can become a major heritage asset, enhancing the attractiveness and value of a luxury property.
STEEL & STYLE – Expertise in exceptional pools
This achievement once again demonstrates STEEL & STYLE's expertise in the design and implementation of technical pools in complex environments: rooftops, constrained urban sites, high-end projects, and exceptional architecture.
When engineering meets design, water becomes architecture.
