Custom Design
Panoramic window, walk-through aquarium, high-rise cylinder, curved wall or suspended structure: every project begins with an architectural intent. We study views, geometry, supports and access points to give it a feasible form.
Water depth, building constraints and technical spaces are integrated from the initial sketch. This approach allows the project to evolve before its dimensions and openings are finalized.
PMMA or glass, a studied transparency
The quality of a tank depends on all its components: base, walls, joints, supports, and seals. PMMA offers possibilities for large observation surfaces and certain curved shapes. Glass meets other priorities regarding rigidity, finish, or maintenance.
We compare these solutions with their constraints in terms of calculation, manufacturing, transport, and installation. The choice of material is an integral part of the overall design of the structure.
Living things at the heart of the program
Freshwater, seawater, tropical or temperate environments: the organisms being housed determine the installation's requirements. Filtration, circulation, oxygenation, temperature, and parameter monitoring are defined with the aquariological expertise associated with the project.
We design the integration of equipment and networks while planning for their maintenance and the conditions for continuous operation. The technical room is part of the project from the very beginning.
Experience in complex hydraulic structures
The aquarium offering extends STEEL & STYLE’s expertise in custom-made tanks, aquatic mirror work, and technical integration. 3D design, mechanical studies, plans, and site preparation ensure project continuity.
Our transparent pool and spa projects illustrate this experience with PMMA, glass, and hard-to-access sites. The aquarium offering combines this with specific expertise in living environments and their operation.
One architecture, multiple perspectives.
Custom aquariums
In a residence, we focus on views, acoustics, and everyday integration. In a hotel or restaurant, the design also takes into account traffic flow, discreet maintenance, and operational hours.
For exhibition spaces and public aquariums, we collaborate with the operator and their specialized team. Structures and equipment are developed according to a clearly defined program and division of tasks.
High-rise cylinders
The circular shape allows for multiple viewpoints to be composed around a single center. Diameter, height, and positioning within the space are developed in conjunction with the architecture, circulation, and aquarium program.
Whether a full cylinder, curved facade, or partially integrated volume: we study configurations with an eye toward the perception of the scenery, light, and the presence of the supports.
Hanging Aquariums
A truly suspended aquarium transfers its loads to hangers or a structure located above. A supported structure rests on supports, which may be concealed. A cantilever functions according to different mechanical principles.
We define this principle with the building's designers. The load path, permissible displacements, and tank interfaces allow the architectural intent to be translated into a constructive solution.
